友人達と創作の日々を過ごすために借りた、アルルの「黄色い家」のゴッホの寝室が題材。ゴーギャンが来る前に描かれた１作目を、彼が去ってしまった後、サン・レミの精神病院で、希望に満ちていた日々を想い描き直した２作目。
Van Gogh created this second version “Bedroom”, from the Yellow House in Arles, whilst he was in a mental asylum in St. Remy. His spiral towards mental illness was caused in part by his fractured friendship with roommate Gaugin dashing Van Gogh’s hopes of the house becoming an artist colony.
